Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food and Agriculture is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a more equitable and sustainable local food system. Thanks to a landmark partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Arcadia Farm was established in 2010 on the grounds of Woodlawn, originally part of George Washington’s Mount Vernon and The National Trust’s first historic site.
Arcadia’s mission is important to the National Trust and aligns well with the history of Woodlawn: “The Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food and Agriculture will bring into the present day the long history of experimental farming at Woodlawn, from George Washington to the mid-nineteenth century Quaker owners.”
